Tortang Sili (Stuffed Peppers)

Peppers are gorgeous in the garden and delicious on the plate.  For us Pinoys, traditionally extra pepper plants are grown around the yard for talbos (leaves) used in salads and favorite chicken dishes like tinola (chicken in ginger broth).  Please note that peppers come from the nightshade family and might scream poison to some; however, Pinoys have been eating tinola with pepper leaves for centuries.  In any case, for further reading, you may Google edible species of nightshade.

Fortunately, my friend Mark supplies me with Italian Roasting Peppers while here in San Diego.

Looks absolutely delicious. I’ll make a note to make room for these peppers in the 2011 garden.

  2. Thanks, Tania! I’ll be growing more peppers next season as well.
